Insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and IGF binding proteins in obese pregnant women and their babies: Potential effects on placental function and fetal growth
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: The placenta expresses significant amounts of insulin and IGF1 receptors at distinct locations on both fetal maternal surfaces. This makes the receptor accessible to and/or insulin, IGF2. IGFs are involved in receptor-mediated regulation placental growth transport, angiogenesis. Maternal obesity during gestation mediates changes metabolism mothers, placentas as well growth. Objectives: In obese women. role like factor system IGFs, IGF receptors, IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) IGFBP proteases gestation, their effect anthropometric need further clarification. this update we reviewed literature detected relation function newborn size pregnant mothers. Eighteen research articles fitted criteria update. Results: Twenty-three papers were including 2817 non-obese women (controls) babies selected reviewed. Results showed that excessive nutrient intake increase IGF1and decreases IGBP1. Increased its availability due decreased IGFBP1 can (weight) development placenta, stimulate mTOR signaling which stimulates protein synthesis, mitochondrial function, upregulate specific amino acid transporter isoforms (amino acids transport), GLUT-1, (glucose transport) possibly lipid transport fetus induce secretion lead overgrowth. Conclusions: pregnancy, increased level acids, glucose fatty acids.

Effects of zinc sulfate (ZnSO4) in diet on the growth performance and gene expression of Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and Ghrelin in goldfish (Carassius auratus)
The zinc element (Zn) is one of the micronutrients and an essential element of the body which has some deleterious and irreparable effects on growth in case of lack it. Thus, we aimed to assess IGF-1 in goldfish with Zn deficiency and to investigate the effect of Zn supplementation on these parameters. Goldfish (Carassius auratus) juvenile (3.5 g) were fed purified diets based on casein as ...
متن کاملInsulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1): a growth hormone.
AIM To contribute to the debate about whether growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) act independently on the growth process. METHODS To describe growth in human and animal models of isolated IGF-1 deficiency (IGHD), such as in Laron syndrome (LS; primary IGF-1 deficiency and GH resistance) and IGF-1 gene or GH receptor gene knockout (KO) mice. RESULTS Since the descri...
متن کاملInsulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1, IGF-binding protein-3, and pancreatic cancer in male smokers.
To investigate whether insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 and IGF-binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) are prospectively associated with exocrine pancreatic cancer, we conducted a nested case-control study within the Alpha-Tocopherol, Beta-Carotene Cancer Prevention Study cohort of 29,133 male Finnish smokers, aged 50-69 years. To avoid the potential influence of subclinical cancer on IGF-1 and IGFBP-3,...
متن کاملInsulin-like growth factor (IGF)-binding proteins inhibit the biological activities of IGF-1 and IGF-2 but not des-(1-3)-IGF-1.
(1) Many cell types secrete insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-binding proteins that can be expected to sequester free IGF and modify the biological activities of the growth factors. (2) A binding protein purified from bovine kidney (MDBK) cells potently inhibited the ability of IGF-2 to stimulate DNA synthesis or protein accumulation as well as to reduce rates of protein breakdown in chick embry...
متن کاملSerum insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I and IGF-binding proteins in lung cancer patients.
Many studies have shown that insulin-like growth factors (IGF-I & IGF-II) are implicated in the autocrine and paracrine growth of various tumors. Alterations in serum IGFs and IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs) profiles have been reported in lung cancer. In this study, we measured serum levels of IGF-I and IGFBPs in 41 patients with lung cancer (small cell lung cancer, SCLC, 9; non-small cell lung c...
